A Few Weeks of John Green

Remember a little while ago when I blogged about Looking For Alaska? Remember how I was less then halfway through and whining about how nothing was propelling the plot and all I wanted was a twist? Well... there was a big one. AND I WAS NOT EXPECTING IT. If you've read this book, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I finished the book, and closed it feeling both extremely depressed yet somehow satisfied. Jeez, John Green, why you gotta toy with my emotions like that?!

Anyways, since I'm now done with Looking For Alaska, I'm on to bigger and better things....okay that's a lie. I'm actually reading another John Green book.

Paper Towns is a story from the point of view of Quentin Jacobsen, a teen who's completely infatuated with 18-year-old Margo Roth Spieglelman, who happens to live right next door. One ordinary night becomes extraordinary when she shows up at Quentin's window, seeking his help for a plan of revenge. After they return home and say goodnight, the story takes a dramatic turn, becoming a mystery, centered around Margo.

I found myself hanging on to every word Margo spoke. One of her statements that impacted me the most was said when Quentin offered that she ditched her bad friends and hang out with him and his friends instead. Green writes, "Her lips were so close to me that I could feel her smile. 'I'm afraid that's not possible,' she whispered." (81). When Margo said this, an eerie feeling came upon me, as if I knew that a twist in the story was coming, but I had no idea what to expect. I just knew something was coming.

Has that ever happened to you? When you read a novel in a book and you just know... something's about to change. Drastically. If so, tell me about how it makes you feel. I'm very excited to find out how the mystery of Margo plays out.
